Welcome to the rocket development lab

Where are we?

The Rocket Development Lab is located on the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus in Prescott, Arizona.

OUR LAB SPACE

From start to finish, a project’s home is the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication Building (AXFAB). Within AXFAB, we have our own dedicated lab space in Room 136.

Test Cells

Did you know?

The Rocket Development Lab uses the only fully undergraduate, on-campus, liquid bi-propellant engine testing facility in the entire country!!

Test Cell 3

Test Cell 3 was designed and built as a Capstone Project called “Tiber Designs” by students, class of 2019. We have made minor improvements to it and plan to expand next year. This is where all our liquid projects test and students can learn how to become certified as liquid testing personnel.

Test Cell 2

Test Cell 2 is both our solids test stand, as well as our verticle vehicle test stand. We have performed countless tests here since its creation in 2019. This is where Project Lazarus tests and where students can learn about solid rockets.

Test Cell 1

Test Cell 1 is where everything started for RDL! Both our solids and liquids programs started here. Solid motor characterization in partnership with the Undergraduate Research Institute started here.
