Flyros

Flyros is a liquid oxygen/ethanol rocket designed to reach ~5,000ft and compete in the Dollar Per Foot challenge put on by the Friends of Amateur Rocketry. The vehicle uses a modified version of the Kairos engine, which utilizes an ablative combustion chamber. The team is targeting a launch date of November 4th, 2023 at the launch out of the Friends of Amateur launch site in California.

The project hopes to see the vehicle from concept to flight in a single semester to prove the RDL’s ability to design, test, and launch a liquid rocket rapidly. The vehicle is also created entirely from spare and scrapped parts from other projects to demonstrate the RDL’s ability to use resources.

Another goal of the mission is to teach freshmen and new members of the club how rocketry works, making it a great learning opportunity.
